Douglas has also designed sets, props, and graphics for the movie “The Effects of Magic”; starring the Carradine brothers, Melinda Dillon, and Kathy Bates. One of those sets was later used in the Coen brother’s movie, the "Big Lebowski" theater scene filmed at the Ivar theater, Hollywood. Douglas uses this experience in his designs for studios and graphic design commissions.

Douglas has developed strengths in all phases of Architectural design and management from large to small-scale commercial, cultural, single-family/multi-family residential projects, and planning projects. His strengths also include Graphic Design, Set Design, and Furniture Design.
Principal of Sunset Media Village Master Plan. A new 130,000 sq.ft. Media Campus on a nearly 2 acre site in the heart of Hollywood. The project would feature an automated, robotic 180 car garage, with new photo studios, sound stage, and recording studios.
Principal of Siren Studios@Orange. A tenant improvement and Change of Use to Sound Stage and Warehouse. The interior improvement consisted of making the existing 14,000 sq.ft single-story building ADA compliant via new exiting, new ramps, and new restrooms.
Principal of West Adams Artist Studio. A single-story addition that is married to an existing masonry building. North light is channeled into the studio spaces via new saw-tooth roofs. Required Zoning Modifications which were applied for and approved.
Principal of several single-family and duplex residential projects within Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Culver City, and within the states of Michigan and Indiana.

Appointed as an Associate the first year of employment and Senior Associate the second year. Also appointed to the following committees: Design and Delivery, Digital Design, Revit Leaders, Senior Technical Leaders, Information Technology, Design Manager Leaders
Project Architect/Project Manager for the Orange County Great Park Master Plan; Designer of the Developer's 50,000 sq.ft. office building; Pedestrian/Bike Bridge as a gateway to the project; 12,000 seat Amphitheater; Master Plan.
Project Architect/Designer of new Shell/Core + TI for IMAX's West Coast award winning HQ, approx. 65,000 gross sq. ft. with both a 75 and 40 seat theater, film warehouse, 70 mm film splicing, scanning, editing, and distribution, and workplace.
Project Architect of Hulu's new 80,000 sq. ft. headquarters, which included a 1,200 sq. ft. hole cut within an existing high-rise to connect floors via a connecting stairs and bleachers. This also included editing bays and an insert studio for original content and post production.
Project Architect of KCET's new 55,000 sq. ft. broadcast facility taking two floors of a high-rise building in Burbank, CA. This required an 1,800 sq. ft. hole cut in the 6th floor to allow for a box within a box Broadcast studio to be inserted.
Project Architect/Space Planning Designer for NBC Universal's Term Deal Writers, Time Warner Cable's Regional Sports Broadcast/El Segundo, Samsung Research and Design Facility/San Francisco, and adverting agency The Garage-Team Mazda-WPP/ Costa Mesa.
Resigned from Gensler to focus on strengthen personal practice, initiate several creative endeavors, and help my family with several family emergencies.

Project Architect for the Commercial Project Siren Studios, a four-story, with a high eighteen-foot floor-to-floor photo studio on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. The first American Natural Light Studio which utilizes ETFE film cushions (Beijing 2008 Olympics' "Water Cube").
Project Architect and Designer of more than a half million square feet of Multi-Family (nearly a thousand units) and Mixed-Use projects in California, including several that were honored with California AIA Awards and featured in Architectural Record magazine.
Project Architect and Designer of custom Single-Family residences in cities throughout California, featuring Beach houses, experimental Pre-Fab residences, and Estates. Many obtaining design awards. This work included designing Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil systems.
Associate, managed the staffing of the entire Los Angeles office, along with creating the CAD layering and drawing standards for both the Los Angeles and Santa Barbara offices. Also introduced the office to SketchUp, version 4, now being used office wide. Introduced and coordinated an office-wide visioning and branding retreat.
Associate, created a financial fee tracking system to allow the staff to see their own progress and efficiency compared to the project goals, hour by hour. This was one major factor allowing the Los Angeles office to have its first profitable year.
Departed from DesignARC to create a solution based collaborative practice of Architecture with clients, contractors, consultants, and building officials.

Design and documentation of the exterior façade of the complex form for the Shanghai Science and Industry Museum, a one-million square foot museum located in the Pudong district of Shanghai, China.
Project Designer of several retail mall complexes, such as Las Vegas Block 34, Scheme 1, at the end of the Fremont Street Experience. And mall renovations, such as the Gwinnett Mall; Century City Mall expansion; and Olympic Station in Hong Kong, China.
Design and documentation of Sheraton Hotel in Mumbai, India and the Schematic Design of Mockingbird Station, a Mixed-Use and Rehab project in Dallas, along with furniture and kiosks for the mixed-use project Mall Ciputra (Citraland) in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Resigned from RTKL to broaden my project experience, adding single-family residential along with smaller scale commercial projects, while adding additional construction type experience, and new skills in the broader profession.

The proscenium arch used in the production to enhance the location at the Ivar Theater was scouted and later used by the Cohen Brothers team when in production of their classic movie the Big Lebowski; starring Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Philip Seymour Hoffman.
